Why Late Summer Golf is Actually the Correct Time to Play

If you ask any local or golf professional when the absolute best time of year to play in Crawford Bay is, we highly doubt they are saying July.
We imagine they'd say something more along the lines of August and September.
While peak summer gets all the hype (we are all a little excited after a long, long winter season), late summer and early fall are quietly the best weeks of the year to get a round in. Here is the highly logical, non-exaggerated case for booking your trip for the tail end of the season:
1. The temperature is comfortable
Playing 18 holes when it’s 35°C in July is a test of physical endurance.
Late summer in Crawford Bay sits comfortably in the sweet spot, typically a highly civilized 24°C. You don’t need an extra gallon of water just to survive the back nine, and you don’t need a beanie either. It is, scientifically speaking, the correct temperature for golf.
2. The course gets quieter
Instead of fighting for tee times and waiting on every box with the peak-summer crowds, the pace relaxes significantly.
The "Back-to-School" shift: By late August and early September, young families start winding down their travels to prepare for the school year.
The result: The course gets quieter. You get the same massive mountain views, the same Kokanee experience, just with a lot more breathing room and a much more relaxed pace of play.
3. The lake is still warm (but the beaches are empty)
If your post-round routine involves cooling off, late summer is peak season. Kootenay Lake has had all of June and July to heat up under the sun, meaning the water is at its absolute warmest in August and September. The best part? You'll never have to fight for a spot on the beach to enjoy it.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
If you want to experience the course when it is at its most comfortable and relaxed, inquire about late-season availability.
