Getting Here - Driving Directions

Calgary - 6 hours

From Calgary travel to Cranbrook B.C. via the Crowsnest Pass (south) or via the Banff/Radium highway (north) and take Highway 3A north along Kootenay Lake. Either way is just 575 km from Calgary.

Edmonton - 9 hours

From Edmonton travel south to Calgary then to Cranbrook B.C. via the Crowsnest Pass (south) or via the Banff/Radium highway (north) and take Highway 3A north along Kootenay Lake.

Penticton - 5 hours

From Penticton head south on Hwy 97 to Hwy 3 then east to Castlegar. Here you can continue south east along Hwy 3 to Salmo and Creston, then north on Hwy 3A for an hour drive up the scenic east shore of Kootenay Lake. At Castlegar you can alternatively take Hwy 3A north east to Nelson, then Balfour, where you can take the free ferry across Kootenay Lake to Kootenay Bay, and then the short drive to Crawford Bay.

Kelowna - 5.5 hours

From Kelowna head south on Hwy 33 to Rock Creek then head east on Hwy 3 to Castlegar. Here you can continue south east along Hwy 3 to Salmo and Creston, then north on Hwy 3A for an hour drive up the scenic east shore of Kootenay Lake. At Castlegar you can alternatively take Hwy 3A north east to Nelson, then Balfour, where you can take the free ferry across Kootenay Lake to Kootenay Bay, and then the short drive to Crawford Bay.

From Vancouver head east on Hwy 1 to Hope, then east on Hwy 3 to Castlegar. From there it's a short drive to Creston and onto Crawford Bay via a scenic hour's drive north along the east shore of Kootenay Lake on Highway 3A.

Coeur d'Alene - 3 hours

From Coeur d'Alene head north on I-95 through Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, then northwest on ID-1 to enter Canada at the Porthill/Rykerts border crossing (open from 7am to 11pm Pacific time). From there it's a short drive to Creston and onto Crawford Bay via a scenic hour's drive north along the east shore of Kootenay Lake on Highway 3A.

Kalispell - 5 hours

From Kalispell head northwest on US-2 to Bonners Ferry, north on I-95 then northwest on ID-1 to enter Canada at the Porthill/Rykerts border crossing (open from 7am to 11pm Pacific time). From there it's a short drive to Creston and onto Crawford Bay via a scenic hour's drive north along the east shore of Kootenay Lake on Highway 3A.

Seattle - 8.5 hours

Take the I-90 to Spokane. Fly Here

Kokanee Springs privately owns a 2900' grass airstrip at Crawford Bay. Private planes and charters are welcome. Shuttle service to and from the airstip is available. Please contact us for arrangements.
