We’ve Lost a Legend

It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I pass along the news that our wonderful starter of so many years Mr. Bill Mackey has passed away after a tragic accident at his home.

Bill had that natural ability to touch people’s lives; everyone he came into contact with whether it was our guests here at the Resort, his co-workers or just someone he met on the street benefited from his kind and helpful personality. Bill was a man who would truly do anything he could for you, his big smile and endless energy and enthusiasm was an inspiration to all. He will be so sorely missed.

Kokanee Springs will honor Bill’s memory in a number of ways. There will be a memorial plaque at the 1st Tee where Bill greeted thousands of players each year and all but ensured a positive start to their day. We are also planning to create an award that will be given every year to the employee that best exemplifies Bill’s spirit of dedication and commitment to our guest’s experience. A memorial service will be held here at the Resort later in August or September and it will be announced in this blog.

It has been a devastating blow to Bill’s family, his friends and all of us here at the Resort but we soldier on as he would want us to. Please remember Bill the next time you stand on the 1st tee and smile, I’m sure he will be watching over you wishing you your best day ever.
